The family took its first step in 1898, when Pietro Sartori bought Villa Maria, a vineyard with a small cellar attached, in the heart of the Veneto region’s Valpolicella district, to assure a source of high quality wine for his hotel. This marked the advent of Sartori di Verona. A few years later, Pietro’s son, Regolo, built the winery into the family’s core business, and by the 1950s Regolo’s two sons expanded the winery and brought these wines to international recognition, exporting them around the world.

Today, Andrea Sartori, Pietro’s great grandson, is at the helm. Like his forefathers, he has taken steps to broaden the reputation of Sartori di Verona and to guarantee the quality behind it.

Duchessa Lia is a leading producer of wines from Italy's Piedmont region. Its success is due to a business philosophy that has three simple principles:

. The wines it produces must always and only display unsurpassed quality;
. They must be offered at the best possible price for the quality they represent;
. The consumer must be able to locate them as easily as possible.

Harvest after harvest, the result is a portfolio of the finest wines from Piedmont's most classic DOC and DOCG zones, wines that play a leading role on every occasion: at mealtimes every day, as well as on the most festive or formal occasions. Duchessa Lia is a wine brand whose distinctive character reflects the commitment of a family of grapegrowers and winemakers who have laboured for generations, with unceasing dedication, to ensure that wine lovers will enjoy, with absolute confidence, the pleasure of bringing to the table every single bottle graced with the image of Duchessa Lia.

To little kilometers from Alba, capital of the wine and the truffle, to the center of the Roero, rises Vezza d' Alba , small rich cultural center of traditions and history. In this village from fertile lands we find lives fruit growing (peaches, pears, apples, etc.) but above all the viticolture that gives us noble and sumptuos wines. It is here that the Company Vitivinicola Battaglio is found. In the enviable zones of the vezzese territory, on the hills to south, south-east in the small fraction "of the Funtana” and moreover to Neive in the Serragrilli locality around the old agricultural company we find the fantastic vineyards. Great perfumed wines able to accompany and to exalt every capacity above all of the piemontese typical kitchen are born from the encounter between the tradition and the use of oenological machines to the vanguard.
